Greenery - Pantone’s colour of the year for 2017

Whilst it’s not quite ‘Denfield’ Green - that’s Pantone 376 C - Pantone’s Greenery (or Pantone 15-0343 TCX) is very similar.

‘A fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore, and renew.’ That sounds like it could be exactly what we need for 2017 after everything 2016 has thrown at us!

Whilst 2016’s colour(s) of the year were more muted tones of Serenity and Rose Quartz, Greenery is a bold expression of fresh hope for the New Year.

The selection of Greenery sends a message of getting back to nature in an increasingly tech-obsessed world, positivity, moving forwards (green for go), a fresh start, new beginnings etc. etc. The green has a yellow base to it and that evokes a feeling of something just ripening; as we move into 2017, it creates a feeling of hope for what’s to come.

This year, Pantone have hit the nail on the head with their colour choice, as they’ve said in the past: ‘For us, it was coming up with a way to communicate what's taking place in our language,’ Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, told Co.Design last year. ‘It's our way of chiming in. We speak a language of colour. So we see things in colour. We can explain things in colour.’

And this is exactly what they’ve done – Pantone have picked a colour that beautifully expresses a collective emotion for 2017. But just as Greenery represents a fresh look, ‘Denfield’ Green can also provide you with a fresh look. Is that what you need in the New Year?

Here’s to 2017 and what’s to come, at Denfield and beyond...
